HRB400 rebar, formerly known as Grade III threaded steel, is a type of hot‑rolled ribbed steel bar. In the construction industry, “Grade III threaded steel” was the previous term used to refer to it. In China, manufacturers are mainly concentrated in North and Northeast China: in the North, companies such as Shougang, Tangsteel, Xuansteel, Chengsteel, Shanxi Zhongyang Steel, and Baoding Purui Steel; in the Northeast, firms like Xilin, Beitai, and Fushun Steel. These two regions account for more than 50% of the country’s total threaded steel production. Compared with plain round bars, threaded steel features longitudinal and transverse ribs on its surface—typically two longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs evenly spaced along its length. As a small‑section steel product, threaded steel is primarily used as the reinforcing framework in reinforced concrete structural members. It must meet specified requirements for mechanical strength, bendability, and weldability. The raw material for producing threaded steel is carbon or low‑alloy structural steel that has undergone calm‑melting treatment, while the finished product is delivered in a hot‑rolled, normalized, or as‑rolled condition.
